Hafenküche

The Hafenküche is the only catering establishment in the area and, therefore, plays an important role in providing basic supplies and infrastructure for the employees of neighboring companies. At the same time, the restaurant is considered a popular spot for excursionists and boaters along the Spree. To continue to meet the requirements in the future, it was decided to completely renovate, restructure, and expand the existing building.The extension adapts to the architectural context in shape and proportion. The elongated wooden roof construction is adapting to the linearity of the existing building. At the same time, the use of steel and industrial gates is a reference to the industrial past of the place. In addition, the use of stacking doors -modified and equipped with glass panels- allows the facade to be completely opened during operating hours in summer, thus creating a flowing boundary between interior and exterior space. This allows a direct connection to the Spree, the nearby marina of the Spreeboote, and the outdoor seating area of the Hafenküche and expands the restaurant's capacity in the summertime.

Die Hafenküche ist das einzige Gastronomieangebot in der Umgebung und spielt daher eine wichtige Rolle bei der Grundversorgung und Infrastruktur für die Mitarbeiter der benachbarten Unternehmen. Gleichzeitig gilt das Restaurant als beliebter Anlaufpunkt für Ausflügler und Bootsfahrer entlang der Spree. Um den zukünftigen Anforderungen weiterhin gerecht zu werden, wurde beschlossen, das bestehende Gebäude komplett zu renovieren, umzustrukturieren und zu erweitern.Der Anbau passt sich in Form und Proportion an den architektonischen Kontext an. Die langgezogene Holzdachkonstruktion orientiert sich an der Linearität des bestehenden Gebäudes. Gleichzeitig verweist die Verwendung von Stahl und industriellen Toren auf die industrielle Vergangenheit des Ortes. Zudem ermöglicht der Einsatz von Schiebetüren – modifiziert und mit Glas ausgestattet – eine vollständige Öffnung der Fassade während der Betriebszeiten im Sommer, wodurch eine fließende Grenze zwischen Innen- und Außenbereich entsteht. Dies schafft eine direkte Verbindung zur Spree, dem nahegelegenen Yachthafen der Spreeboote und dem Außenbereich der Hafenküche und erweitert im Sommer die Kapazität des Restaurants.
